Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering has a state of art laboratories and research facility. The department identifies the real time projects, help and encourage the students to complete them with innovative and creative ideas and skills.

Sufficient models like project management, preparation, modeling and classification of date, designing of embeded systems, robust control, digital signal processing, advanced computational method in modeling and engineering design etc are taught using sophisticated techniques.

Pn : Project Management techniques and team work necessary for successful information engineering technologies, System Design and Implementations and the effective use of communication skills to prepare technical reports and presentations.

LAB FACILITY
The Department of EEE takes immense care in providing the finest hands on experience with the help of well equipped laboratories. There are 8 labs, with all facilities aimed at providing better practical knowledge to the students.

Power electronics lab

The main aim of this lab is to provide a deep exposition of the working of electromechanical devices, with specific emphasis on the working of rotating electrical machines and transformers. It is also used for research and development work by various branches under electrical category.
Major equipments in this lab:

  • Resonant DC-DC converters modules
  • Series and parallel inverter
  • IGBT based chopper modules
  • R,RC,UJT firing modes, SCR, TRIAC, MOSFET modules
  • Single phase and three phase PWM inverter modules
  • Three phase IGBT based inverter

Control Systems Lab

Control system is a major engineering discipline that is extended to various fields like medicine, biology, sociology etc due to the universality of the principle of control system. Realizing the need, the department has provided a lab for control system.

  • Stepper motors

  • Process control simulator of linear system

Measurement and Instrumentation Lab

The advancement of science and technology is dependent upon a parallel progress in measurements techniques. To keep ourselves updated in modern developments and technologies a practical knowledge of measurements and systems is essential. Our MI lab has been catering the above mentioned service to the students.
Major equipments in this lab:

  • Kelvin’s double bridge
  • Maxwell’s inductance bridge
  • Schering’s bridge
  • Pressure gauge kits
  • LVDT Kits
  • Energy meters to measure power etc.

Electronic Devices and Circuits Lab

This lab is aimed at providing in depth knowledge on the operating principles of discrete electronic devices and circuits, op-amps, Common voltage regulators.

Linear and Digital Integrated Circuits Lab

This lab is aimed at providing a better insight of the commonly used linear IC’s and in helping to have a better understanding of the functions, operations and limitations of various IC’s and their remedies. It also provides clue about the automatically performed operations of modern synthesis tools such as logic minimization, karnaugh maps etc.

Electrical Machines lab

The main aim of this lab is to provide a deep exposition of the working of electromechanical devices. This lab is aimed at providing in depth knowledge on the operating principles of machines.

Power System Simulation lab

Simulation lab is equipped with 30 computers. The problems are solved and it is simulated with the help of MATLAB software. It gives a clear idea about the Power system problems.
M.E. Power Electronics & Drives Lab

This lab is aimed at providing in depth knowledge on the operating principles and speed control of machines.

Major equipments in this lab:

Association


Association of Electrical & Electronics Engineering

The Association of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department el-elso-electroforza has conducted National Conference, Intelligent Control techniques to Power Electronics & Power Systems ICPEPS-2010 on 13th October 2010. Shri Nambi Narayanan  presided over the inaugural function. Participants from various institutions in and out of the states have presented their paper the conference thus came to an end by a valedictory function.

Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering has organized a National Conference on Technological Trends in Electrical Engineering TTEE 2K12 on 21st SEP 2012. More than 250 students from various colleges all over India presented their research papers. Prof.V. Ganesan from ISRO Trivandrum felicitated conference as the chief guest.

Our department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering formed an association of electrical Engineers "ELECTROFORZA" in the year 2007. From then and there ELECTROFORZA has organized various events by conducting seminars, symposium and many other Activities

  • Our department has organized a National Conference on Technological Trends in Electrical Engineering TTEE 2K12 on 21st SEP 2012.
  • Our department has organized National Conference (ICPEPS-2010) on 13th October 2010.
  • Association of Electrical and Electronics Engineers of Ponjesly College of engineering ELECTROFORZA organized one day "National Level technical Symposium" on 8th October 2007.Deligates from various colleges enlightened our symposium participating in various Events.
  • Er.C.Kannan, Er.A.Sahayaraj, Er.M.Palaniyappan, Er.M.sunderraj from TANGEDCO& REC conducted a National Franchisee Training program on 24th SEP 2013
  • Dr.Marsaline Beno, St.Xavier’s Catholic College of Enginnering conducted Guest Lecture on 21st Febuary2013 under the topic SMART GRID.
  • Ms.Sundari Rama Krishnan from US Technologies Chennai has conducted a Personality development programme on 17th March 2011.
  • Shri.S.Nambi Narayanan, from ISRO, has conducted a Personality development programme on 13th October 2010.
  • Ms.C.Sreedevi from MIT Chennai, conducted Guest Lecture on 3rd May2009 under the topic Mobile network.
