Department of information technology
The Department of Information Technology is committed to prepare the students to take on appropriate professional positions upon graduation and to grow into leadership positions, the syllabi of the course is uniquely designed. In addition to the prescribed university syllabus, the following special initiatives have been introduced by the department to prepare the graduates to meet the challenges of the dynamically changing IT industry.
We provide independence to the students to choose project topics that are state-of-the-art as well as industry relevant. Depending on the project area chosen by the students, the department appoints a faculty, who has experience in the area or related areas, as project supervisors. Students get the unique opportunity to communicate and interact with relevant industry professionals who will acts as Project Mentors. The database of the project mentors and communication modalities are controlled by the Head of the Department.
A personality development course designed to help the students to discover themselves and to horn their interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
The department organizes special interactive programme for final year students to boost their confidence and competence in technical areas of Information Technology and to enable them to excel in responding to technical interview questions.
Keeping in view of the diverse background of the students, 'Introduction to Problem Solving' has been designed as a bridging course to lay strong foundation in problem solving. This course helps the students to enhance their logical thinking. The main objective of the course is to assist the students, who came from Biology background, to reduce their apprehensions towards C programming.
An exclusive aptitude training programme in Technical non Technical, to prepare the students for placement as well as for other competitive examinations.
Seminars and discussions with experts from industry as well as academics are organized regularly to provide a platform for the students to keep abreast with latest developments.
To integrate continuous evaluation into the teaching-learning progress, Performance Enhancement Tests are conducted on every day first hour. Through this evaluation the teacher continuously monitors the progress of the students. The process of learning is also monitored and if needed be altered. The quality of the product of the learning is also assessed.

COMPUTER GRAPHICS LAB
The scope of this lab is to understand the Engineering drawing concepts like Bresenham’s algorithm, 2D and 3D representations, line clipping & polygon clipping. The various software used are C, C++ and OPENGL. Well designed platform is available for developing applications like drawing 3D objects and scenes, Fractals etc.
DATA STRUCTURES LAB
The main objective of this laboratory is to expose students to various fields. Here we have to use TURBOC version 3 software and WINDOWS 2000 / XP / NT OR LINUX operating system is used. Well designed platforms are available for experimental work on various topics like linked list, stack, array, queue, binary search tree, hashing, backtracking. All the Programs are used for constructing and modeling the required application.
Java Programming Lab
The scope of this lab is to understand the concepts of object-oriented, event driven, and concurrent programming paradigms. Its objective is to develop skills in using these paradigms using Java. The software used is jdk1.6. Well designed platform is available for experimental work on various topics like Stack and Queue, Date class, ADT Stack Graphical primitives, scientific calculator, linked-list class and multi-threaded GUI application.
The main objective of this laboratory is to expose students to various fields in networking. . Here we have to use C, Linux, NS2 software. Well designed platforms are available for experimental work on various topics like TCP, UDP, MAC, Sliding window protocol, RPC. All the Network Programs are used for constructing and modeling the required application.
Object Oriented Programming lab
This Lab use C++ features that replace C constructs to make C++ a safer and more flexible programming language. This Language use the features offered by C++ for Object-Oriented Programming.Write class components that protect data integrity and produce classes that are re-usable and maintainable.Design class responsibilities and relationships with the aim of maximizing class cohesion and minimizing class dependencies.Use the generic programming features of C++ including the STLDesign and implement reliable and maintainable object-oriented applications of moderate complexity composed of several classes.
OBJECT ORIENTED ANALYSIS AND DESIGN LAB
The main objective of in this lab is to constructing and modeling an application. Here we have to use Rational rose software. It is mainly specifies the Unified Modeling Language (UML). The UMLcontains set of notation for constructing and modeling the required application. In this lab described some data modeling, such as use case diagram, class diagram, sequence diagram, collaboration diagram, activity diagram, component diagram, package diagram, state transmission diagram etc. All the diagrams are used for constructing and modeling the required application.
SYSTEM SOFTWARE LAB
The Software Systems Laboratory serves as the focal point for interdisciplinary research on software systems and applications. System software is the term used to describe the programs and files that constitute the operating system- such as Microsoft Windows, Mac OSX or Linux--of a computer. It is responsible for the management and control of computer hardware . The lab focuses on the experimental design, implementation, and evaluation of systems software technologies which enable the development of a wide range of emerging applications. Examples of such enabling technologies covered by the Software Lab include collaborative computing, compiler and language design, embedded and real-time computing, file systems, host and network security systems, mobile and distributed systems, network protocols and architectures, operating systems.
WEB TECHNOLOGY LAB
Most of the data is unstructured (documents, emails, etc…).Web Technology Lab is very good at: storing, transferring, processing, filtering and protecting this data. This lab uses standards and technologies developed for the Internet and the World Wide Web (WWW).
These technologies include
- Internet (Public access pages)
- Intranet (Internal web pages)
- Extranet (Secure access to your Intranet)
- Web pages
- Web servers
A web application would be an software whose front-end (what is visible by the user) is a website (web pages). These web pages, ultimately, will serve as the central repository of all documents, discussions, tasks and more importantly information.noedit

A seminar was held on 23.8.13 by Mr. PRAMOD MOORITH, Vice President, Quatlys, Chennai. The main focus of is on AGILE METHODOLOGIES, MOBILE COMPUTING AND GREEN COMPUTING. Agile Methodology is one of the software engineering techniques. Agile means open for change by means of iterative development. In Mobile Computing, the operating system used for various mobiles like IOS, SYMPIAN ANDROID is expressed. In green computing, energy efficient IT architecture is need and green disposal are introduced. The label given for computing products which reduces energy consumption is exposed.
WORKSHOP ON”.NET”, was conducted on 12th and 13th March 2014 by Mr. Benchar Charles, in association with ICTACT. The students had a practical session were they practised how to work in ”.NET” and the students felt it very useful for their 8th semester project.noedit
